Float

My inspiration behind this photo is park core. I was trying to create an illusion as if he were jumping off the Q court. I did not face any technical challenges. I had to get prone in order for me to take this photo.

My inspiration behind this photo is Buddha and their awesomeness. I was trying to crate an illusion as if Dyesha were meditating in mid air. One challenge I faced was trying to not have a washed out background.

If I could describe this photo in one word it would have to be spontaneous. My inspiration behind this photo is houddinni. One technical challenge I faced was the background because it was so washed out. One artistic challenge I faced was trying to make the photo look real well photo shopped and interesting.

Poses

 WALL
Location: Q - Court
Problems:  Washed out background
I chose this photo because I really like the angle I took it from and it looks really crispy
I think if his face was brightened up a little bit this photo could have been better.

WILD
Location: Q - Court
Problems: The spots on her face from the suns reflection
I really like the glow on my models face and the environment shes in makes her stand out like a diamond
If the background wasnt that washed out it would have been perfect.
 WILD
Location: Q - Court
Problems: Washed out background and random person
This photo stood out because of his creative hand gestures and body positioning which made this photo interesting to me.
This photo could be improved if the background was dimmer and not as bright.

 SIT
Location: Q - Court
Problems: I didnt have any problems
This photo stood out to me the most because his hair looks nice and the angle gives him an innocent look .
I cant think of a way to improve this photo .
 Environmental
Location: Q - Court
Problems: Washed out background
This photo stood out to me the most because it shows how strong he is and how much he cares about recycling.
This photo could easily be improved if the background wasnt washed out.

SIT
Location: Q - Court
Problems: Washed out background
This photo stood out to me the most because her smile looks amazing and the background looks nice
This photo could be improved if the background was a little less washed out
Wild
Location: Q - Court
Problems: the background looks slightly washed out
This photo stood out to me the most because the quality of the photo looks crispy and well defined.
This photo could be improved if the background had a little more color instead of it being so washed out.
 TALL
Location: Q - Court
Problems: there is a random color strip on the left side of the photo
This photo stood out to me because he looks dominant from the angle i took it from and it makes my model look strong.
This photo could be improved if the random strip wasnt there.
WALL
Location: Serra High School
Problems:random trash can in the background
This photo is my best one in my opinion because her face has a nice glow and not only is the subject in focus but the variety of color in the background makes her stand out.
This photo could be improved if the trash can in the background wasnt there.
After the entire post answer the following questions:

 TALL
Location: Q - Court
Problems: random kid in the background
I chose this photo to be part of my favorite photos because I used a couple techniques to make this photo a little more interesting. I used the ceiling for leading lines and I positioned myself lower so that i could create "bigger" look on her.
This photo could have been better if the randy in the background didnt photo bomb my models photo shoot.

The most challenging element of this assignment was positioning my model in the right environment so that the background didnt get washed out because that happened a lot and I overcame this by focusing on my model and the background at the same time.

My photography skills have definitely been improving because now I know many techniques that I could use for future photos. When I started taking photos I always kept the subject in the middle and now I use rule of thirds and I get real low or move into different places to get good angles.

I want to learn how to film skateboarding / motion picture .

  • What was the most challenging element of this assignment? How did you overcome this challenge?
  • Explain how your photography skills have changed/improved since September (i.e. what are you more confident in now, what technical challenges/issues have you overcome, etc.)
  • What things are you interested in learning before the end of the year?

Vermeer

 1. The challenges I encountered while taking portrait pictures were lighting, positioning, and DOF. While taking pictures the sun glared on my models face a couple times so I had to move my model to certain areas where he/she was exposed to shade which then resulted into a horrible background I couldnt use for depth of field.

2. The challenges of being a model was deciding what to wear for my next photo shoot. No im kidding I did not have any challenges being a model . I guess I am a natural .

3. I believe what makes a model a good one is expressing yourself in many different ways so that the photographer can shoot a variety of different styles of pictures. He/she must use depth of field to focus the subject and adjust the model if needed to.

PhotoAnalysis: Portraits

In this picture there are a bunch of skateboarders running up a set of stairs super hyped to skate getting ready to kill it and I can tell by their face expressions. Mike Mo for example is sticking his tongue out and Erik Koston has a stocked face expression. Based on the photo I might infer that there about to throw down hammers and definitely hit the rail for sure. I can also infer that they'e excited to skate the new spot. One question I have for this photo is why is mike mo sticking his tongue out and why is his arm up?

In this picture I see an astronaut on the moon dressed in a space suit getting ready to explore the rest of it perhaps? I also see a united states flag which makes me assume that he is from America and the range rover next to him is probably a device he uses to transfer information from where his location is back to planet earth. I wonder what he is looking at? I really cant tell from his space helmet.

In this photo I see a professional skateboarder, Paul Rodriguez, in a city area skating a nice ledge. From this photo I can assume that he is filming for his new skate video perhaps? i can tell that he is doing a nose blunt slide. I wonder why his arms are like that and I also ponder about where this spot may be?

In this image there are a bunch of kids at a demo looking towards the up direction. From this photo I can tell that they are probably waiting for professional skateboarders to throw free stuff at them. I wonder what team they just got done watching skateboard.

In this photo there is a skateboarder skating really fast perhaps under a bridge? I can tell from this photo that he is probably skating to some destination unknown. I wonder where he is going and if he is a professional skateboarder?

MIDTERM Portfolio

 ANGLES
During the process of taking this photo I got really low below the subject of my image to portray an angles effect. I chose this as one of my best angles photo because the green color on the leaves really stood out next to the concrete wall. I think if i would have cropped the washed out sky it would have made this photo a little stronger.

 FILL THE FRAME
I took this photo the day we were given props to experiment with. I had a great idea to apply the filling the frame technique with my bee prop so I set it down on floor level and took the picture right below it so that my prop looked superior. I feel like if the sun didnt leave as much glare this picture would have been perfect.

RULE OF THIRDS

During the making of this photo I asked my bro nick to jump over a trash can so that I could capture his face expression but I didnt realize it was going to be a great photo for rule of thirds technique.

PANNING
I used a panning technique to perform a slightly blurred background and kept the subject in focus. This technique was difficult for me to perform so i chose this photo because i felt like it was the closest one to this technique. I think this photo could be better if i might have blurred the background a little more.

 SHUTTER SPEED

During the process of making this photo i got really low and asked my friend nick to toss leaves into the air and i increased the shutter speed so it captured the leaves in crisp definition. i really like how this photo came out to be but it could be improved if his pants werent slightly washed out.

 WILD CARD

This photo describes me and how I am able to apply the techniques i used during my first semester in this class to almost any object in the world.

 FRAMING

I obviously didnt take this photo but i gave my friend nick instructions to take it the way i wanted it. I had a good idea of using the cart as a framing photo. This photo could have been better if i would have took it for sure.

 LINES
I took this photo outside by the bus area. I decided to get really low and take the photo floor level so that i was able to include the subject and the parking bus lines so draw attention to the subject. i really like how this photo came out to be.

PATTERNS
I was given a prop to take pictures of and experiment. I feel like I did a really good job of taking a picture of this bee on a fence which led into my pattern technique i used in this photo.

DEPTH OF FIELD

DOF Photo Corrected

During the process of photo shopping this photo I first duplicated the image then added a high pass to make the photo look a little crispier. I then added a levels layer to darken the shades and brighten the fire hydrant.

While in photoshop I added a high pass filter to the image to emphasize the detail on the wheel so it pleases the eye a little more. I then added a layer of levels to darken the inside of the wheels and lightened the rest of the image.

This is one of my first images I took with the depth of field affect and I really felt strong and positive t
